Some background on solutions

I have found a few similar solutions implementing windows mouse drivers for Kinect. The most interesting solution was the http://www.kinemote.net project, which uses a limited number of hand gestures to perform left/right click, drag, and double click.

Another solution that is implemented differently is found at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlwWp8ItCVA. Instead of a free hand controlling the cursor, the finger is placed roughly one centimeter from the screen, to move the cursor, click and drag.

Wave To Kinect

"Hello World!"

This is the start of an undergraduate engineering project to use gestures to control the cursor on a computer, using the Kinect device.

Besides use in the university, this kind of technology could be used in hospitals to avoid touching screens, as well as places as simple as shopping center's at help terminals.
